DESCRIPTION
Magnet takes longer than nonmagnet to
fall through tube (about 5.5 seconds as compared to 0.5 s). The
falling
magnet induces currents in the tube whose magnetic fields oppose the
motion
of the magnet.
NOTES
The tube can be hung from a spring scale
(by the velcro strip) to show that the magnet exerts a force on the
tube
as it falls.
