CRYSTAL RADIO
APPARATUS
crystal radio
202-19-F
amplifier/speaker
202-20-B2
DESCRIPTION
The radio receiver consists of an
inductor in parallel with a variable capacitor. Vary the
capacitance until the resonant frequency of the circuit
matches the carrier frequency of a local AM radio station
(550-1600kHz). A diode rectifies the signal on the way to the
amplifier. Unfortunately, you can pick up WOBL at just about any
frequency, and in fact with just a long wire and a speaker.
NOTES
Connect the ground wire to a
building ground, stretch out the antenna wire and position it for best
reception.
