Computer Modeling of Energy Usage

DOE2 software through ADM Associates
DOS version of DOE 2.1 for price of $395.

LBL Energy Software Programs (Therm, Windows 5, etc.)

Energy Science and Technology Software Center
Clearing house for government-written software. Lists software and gives person to contact to purchase said software. Not very helpful

The National Energy Audit Tool (NEAT) from Oak Ridge National Labs

Home Energy Saver at LNL
on-line calculator where you enter house data and learn about its energy use

SAC Software DOE 2.1 software
vendor for DOE-2.1 and PowerDOE energy modeling software. The latter may have a graphical interface but I don't have much information yet.

Eley Associates VisualDOE for Windows
downloaded a demo but haven't used it yet. It appears to have a convenient interface to the DOE 2 energy modeling engine. This is a very expensive package -- $1200 for full version.

EnergyPro modeling software from EnergySoft (This appears to be good package for doing home energy audit of an existing structure, to calculate heat loss, etc.)

EREN Building Energy Software Tools

Elite Software AUDIT for windows (this does not appear to calculate building envelope -- only uses utility bills, and other general information)

EZDOE -- from Elitesoft.com, a DOS-based DOE 2 engine.

REM/Design and REM/Rate software (Design is good for calculating heat loss, but is geared towards new construction -- lacks materials info. for old homes.) Single academic price is $99 -- ordered a copy.

Easy Whole House Energy Audit by CRN Applications
a graphical based program for calculating heating and cooling loads for a building (download ez2zip.exe)

LBL Energy Advisor -- calculations based on user-supplied information

CodeComp version 3.02 DOS software

UCLA School of Architecture Energy Design Tools

Windows and Daylighting Group Software at LBL

RESEM -- a pc (DOS) program for modeling retrofit energy savings

PowerDOE is a windows, graphical version of DOE-2 that is available for trial.
