The Veeco Helium Leak Checker contains a helium mass spectrometer along with two mechanical pumps and a turbo-molecular, high-vacuum pump. The system is frequently used to test for vacuum leaks in the three vacuum evaporation systems and the vacuum jackets for the various cryostats. It is also used as a general pumping system to evacuate the vacuum jackets on the cryostats. This system was purchsed in 1994 at a cost of approximately $15,000.
