In 1998, the National Science Foundation recognized Oberlin College with the prestigious Award for the Integration of Research and Education (AIRE). Oberlin is one of only 10 colleges and universities nationwide to receive the $500,000 award. The award is in recognition of Oberlin's innovative past efforts in creating synergy between its research and education missions and for what Oberlin College has proposed to do in the future.
Oberlin College will use the award over the next four years to:
Jan Thornton, AIRE Project Director, Chair, Committee for the Integration of Research and Teaching, and Oberlin College Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Biology
