The overall goal of the Ninde Scholars Program is to help more young people in Oberlin obtain a college degree by providing dynamic college-access and college-readiness programs and services. The Ninde program especially targets under-represented and low-income students and those who would be the first in their families to attend college. Outreach to families is a priority: meetings and events are organized to help encourage families to understand the college application and selection process and to encourage families to support their children's college aspirations. Many workshops and services are offered to all Oberlin City School students, but some are specifically tailored to a group of "Ninde Scholars" in grades 11 and 12 and "Aspiring Scholars" in grades 7-10.
