Ninde Scholars Program

How you Can Help

woman reading

Here are just a few ways you can help support the Ninde Scholars Program:

Volunteer

People with artistic talents can help us to create publicity materials or talk to students who are interested in art. We can use help tutoring students in math and reading, we are looking for people to correspond with and send care packages to young people who have gone off to college, and we can always use help planning and preparing for events, etc. Give us a call to see what you can do to help kids succeed! 440-775-6874, e-mail bo.arbogast@oberlin.edu.

Provide Incentives

Providing small incentives can have a powerfully motivating effect on young people. The Ninde Scholars Program has received in-kind donations from local businesses such as Oberlin’s Drug-Mart, Dave’s Army Navy Store, Main Office Copy Shop, Ben Franklin/Mindfair, Quick and Delicious Restaurant, and Pizza Hut. We have used these donations for such things as rewards for students who complete long and tedious test-preparation courses and as door prizes to increase attendance at workshops. If you have some items you would consider donating for these purposes, please let us know!

Make a Donation

Dick and Nan Ninde turned their personal generosity into a community-wide movement to encourage current and future generations of Oberlin High School students to participate in education beyond high school. The Dick and Nan Ninde Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Lorain County was created by the Ninde’s gift and has grown significantly with the contributions of hundreds of people who care about the future of our youth. The Ninde Endowment supports the Ninde Scholars program and other successful initiatives. To make a contribution or planned gift to be part of the movement the Ninde’s initiated; contact the Community Foundation at www.peoplewhocare.org. Your gift today will last forever!
