Resources

Oberlin's bureaucracy is friendly and not very large, but finding the right
office to answer a question or help solve a problem can be difficult when you're
new to the campus. This list of offices is organized by area, to help you find
exactly where to go when you need assistance.
Academic

Dean of Studies, Office of the
The Office of the Dean of Studies provides information
about academic requirements, regulations, and procedures for Oberlin students
pursuing course work in the College of Arts and Sciences. The office also processes
requests related to many of these academic requirements and regulations.

Associate Deans of the Conservatory, Office of the
The Office of the Associate Deans of the Conservatory provides
oversight, support, and information regarding academic requirements, procedures,
and regulations to all Oberlin students pursuing course work in Music.

Class Deans
Class Deans are available
to help students solve various academic, social, and personal problems. They
do not replace faculty advisors. Instead, they work in concert with faculty
advisors to support students as they navigate the transitions of college life.

Libraries (main, art, science, and Conservatory
libraries)
Oberlin's library collection of books and periodicals,
scores, government publications, sound and video recordings, and software contains
over 2.4 million separate items and provides extensive access to electronic resources. The collection is housed in facilities
across campus, including the Main Library (Mudd Center), the Art Library, the Conservatory
Library, and the Science Library.

Registrar, Office of the
The Registrar's Office provides services to students from
the time a student is admitted through graduation and beyond. Staff members
assist with all of the changes that occur during a student's career; for example,
changes of major, name, address, updates to and verification
of enrollment status, application for transfer of credit, and readmission to
the College.

Student Academic Services
The mission of Student Academic Services is to maximize
the academic success and persistence to graduation of all students at Oberlin
College. Student Academic Services provides comprehensive support through Learning
Assistance Programs and Guidance Services to all students enrolled in the College
of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music.

Health, Safety, and Environment

Safety and Security, Office of
For emergencies, call x58911.
The Office of Safety and Security strives to provide the
College community with the highest possible degree of public safety and security
services. Included are general support and emergency response services, life
and property protection, and educational programs and public information.
As the only 24-hour office on campus, the Safety and Security Office
alerts appropriate representatives of the College when they are needed after
regular business hours.

Counseling Center
The Counseling Center's primary purpose is to provide psychological
support for students as they pursue their academic and personal goals, and to
enhance the quality of their experiences at Oberlin College. The Center provides
short-term counseling and psychotherapy services to students.

Student Health Services, Office of
Student Health Services is a primary
care facility that specializes in the care of college-age students. Our team
of providers is experienced in treating common medical problems seen on college
campuses. Initial diagnosis and treatment for a broad spectrum of illnesses and
injuries and appropriate follow-up care are offered.

Environmental Sustainability, Office of
The Office of Environmental Sustainability provides leadership to the Oberlin community in implementing a comprehensive environmental policy in line with the strategic goal of sustainability. The office works to develop awareness and tools to maximize environmental performance at Oberlin College.

Activities and Recreation

Allen Memorial Art Museum
The Allen Memorial Art Museum (AMAM) ranks among
the top five college or university museums in the nation and is one of the
greatest cultural assets of Oberlin College.

Recreation Center
The Department of Athletics and Physical Education offers
five levels of activities for Oberlin students: open recreation, physical education
classes, intramural sports, club sports, and intercollegiate teams. Use of the
facilities
is free to Oberlin College students and highly recommended.

Student Union
The Student Union serves as a gathering place for students,
faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. The Student Union Board and staff work to
create a sense of community within the College environment, to provide opportunities
that support the development of the whole student outside the classroom, and
to provide programs and services that meet the social, cultural, educational,
spiritual, and recreational needs of all members of the Oberlin College community.

Bonner Center for Service and Learning
The Bonner Center for Service and Learning facilitates partnerships
among local community organizations, faculty members, students, and the College
as a whole.

Multicultural Resource Center
The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) produces, sponsors, co-sponsors, and supports projects and programs on diversity and multiculturalism at Oberlin College. The center is a resource for students who have been historically disenfranchised from higher education. The MRC works to support students of color and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, as well as to address the concerns of low-income, international, and first-generation college students.

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life is an ecumenical,
interfaith resource center that provides programs and services of a diverse nature
to the campus and to the wider community.

Career Services, Office of
The staff of Career Services helps students
in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music assess their
career interests, skills, and values in order to identify career options.

The Office of the Dean of Students helps
ensure the success of Oberlin students in their pursuit of knowledge and learning,

of topics including immigration, cultural adjustment, travel advice, housing,
financial aid, and various types of counseling—academic, career, and personal.

Ombudsperson, Office of the, and the Oberlin College Dialogue Center (OCDC)
Oberlin's ombudsperson is an impartial, independent
administrator whose central role is to help improve the quality of discourse
on campus by providing individuals—primarily students—with the tools
to resolve
conflicts, solve problems, and communicate more effectively with others.

Finance and Jobs

Financial Aid, Office of
The primary purpose of student financial aid is to provide
financial resources to students who would be unable to pursue post-secondary
education without such assistance. It is a basic premise of Oberlin's financial
aid program that the primary responsibility for meeting college costs lies with
the student and the student's family. The College assists in those cases where
the family demonstrates that they are unable to meet the full cost of attending
Oberlin.

Student Accounts, Office of
The primary function of the Student Accounts Office is to bill students and then receive and record payments made on student accounts. In addition, the staff is available to provide assistance to the students, their parents and guardians in resolving difficulties with their billing. This includes financial counseling and facilitating financial arrangements.

Student Employment, Office of
The Student Employment Office is a resource for both students and employers. The office is a student-run organization that is part of the Office of Financial Aid. The main function of this office is to provide and process the forms required for student employment. Postings for various jobs (on and off campus) are available online.

Center for Information Technology (CIT)
The CIT provides, administers, develops, supports, and
maintains the Oberlin College Information Technology infrastructure, including
the campus
network, client and computer lab systems, and the central database and business
processing of the College.

The Department of Residential Education and Dining Services
exists to complement the academic mission of Oberlin College. The department strives to create
