Latest Trends in Health Economics Focus of National Conference at Oberlin College Sept. 8-10
August 26-- Twelve of the nation’s leading health economists will discuss their latest research and present papers on topics such as health insurance, pharmaceutical advertising, health behaviors and incentives, and the impact of changes in payment rates on physicians’ decisions September 8-10 at Oberlin College.
Oberlin College Student Volunteers Celebrate 10th Day Of Service September 2
August 19-- For more than 170 years, Oberlin undergraduates have integrated their education with community outreach. On Saturday, September 2, the tradition will continue when more than 300 new Oberlin students celebrate the 10th anniversary of the College’s Day of Service (DOS) program by lending their efforts to a wide variety of volunteer projects throughout the area.
Oberlin College among Nation’s Best Schools in Recent College Guides/Rankings
August 16--Oberlin College's Artist Recital Series launches the 2006-07 season — its 128th — with members of the distinguished Emerson String Quartet and pianist Wu Han on Saturday, September 30, at 8 p.m. Subscription tickets are now available for the seven-concert series, which includes tenor Juan Diego Flórez in one of only two American recitals this season.

August 18-- As college students make their way back to campus, it is time for national publications to announce their varied rankings of the best schools. This fall Oberlin has the distinction of being selected among the top 25 by three publications: The Washington Monthly,The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students, and U.S. News and World Report “American’s Best Colleges.”
Economist Paul Krugman Opens Convocation Series
August 9--On Tuesday, September 12, Oberlin College will celebrate the beginning of its 174th academic year with an address by Paul Krugman, one of the world's leading international economists. His talk is part of the College's 2006-2007 Convocation Series, that features discussions of cutting-edge issues by some of the country's most prominent thinkers. The free talks are open to the public and will take place throughout the year at 8 p.m. in Oberlin's Finney Chapel.
International Piano Competition at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music July 23-30
July 19--The 12th annual Oberlin International Piano Competition and Festival, sponsored by the Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College and directed by Oberlin Professor of Piano Robert Shannon, will take place Sunday, July 23, through Sunday, July 30, 2006. The final round of the competition will be held in Warner Concert Hall Saturday, July 29, at 8 p.m., and will be broadcast live on 104.9 FM WCLV, Cleveland’s classical music radio station.
