HALLOWEEN'S TRICK OR TREAT BUMPS OBERLIN COMMUNITY CANDIDATES NIGHT |
|||||||||||
|
September 19, 2005Oberlin's Candidates Night Planning Committee has announced that the 2005 Oberlin Community Candidates Night will be held Tuesday, November 1, instead of Monday, October 31, as previously announced. This will avoid a conflict with the city's scheduled trick-or-treat night. The event will be held at 7 p.m., at First Church in Oberlin following a social period at 6:30 p.m. The evening program is free and open to the public. This year marks the first time electronic voting machines will be used in an Oberlin election, says committee member Elizabeth Rumics. On the ballot will be seven school board and nine city council candidates, two county issues, and a number of Oberlin school, public library, and city issues. "The Oberlin Community Candidates Night provides an opportunity to actually see and hear the candidates and hear presentations on all issues, in the desire to help voters make informed choices," says Rumics. "All citizens, young and old, are urged to attend this exercise in democracy." |
