MEZZO SOPRANO JENNIFER LARMORE REPLACES LORRAINE HUNT LIEBERSON ON OBERLIN'S ARTIST RECITAL SERIES APRIL 16

January 20, 2005—Mezzo Soprano Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, who earlier this year canceled a Metropolitan Orchestra engagement at Carnegie Hall because of a lower-back injury, has ultimately cancelled all of her appearances for the rest of the season, including a scheduled performance at Oberlin College on Saturday, April 16. Lieberson was to appear as part of the College's Artist Recital Series, accompanied by pianist Robert Tweten.

Lieberson is replaced on the Oberlin program by mezzo soprano Jennifer Larmore, who will be accompanied by pianist Antoine Palloc. The Larmore performance will take place in Finney Chapel on the same day and at the same time as the previously scheduled Lieberson recital: Saturday, April 16, at 8 p.m.

Ticket prices are also the same: $10 for all students, $22 for those with an Oberlin College I.D. -- Oberlin faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and area educators -- and for senior citizens, and $26 for the general public.

The program will be announced at a later date.

Mezzo soprano Jennifer Larmore has long been regarded as one of the world's foremost opera and concert artists, noted for an incredible range of flexibility and well regarded for her interpretations of the works of Baroque, bel canto, and Romantic styles. She was awarded the Chevalier des arts et des lettres by the French government in 2002.
