FOUR TO RECEIVE HONORARY DEGREES AT OBERLIN COLLEGES 170th COMMENCEMENT |

MAY 5, 2003---Oberlin College will confer honorary degrees upon four distinguished persons in the fields of music, history, and journalism during its 170th Commencement Monday, May 26, on Tappan Square.
Oberlin will also confer two special awards. Community leader and civil rights activist Ruby Jones, founder of the Oberlin Community Youth Scholarship Fund, will receive the College's annual award for distinguished service to the community. Bayard W. Lyon '42, a longtime Oberlin supporter and volunteer, will be awarded the Alumni Medal in recognition of his outstanding service to the College and its extended community.
