AUGUST 29, 2003Michael F. Reilly, former director of track and field and cross country operations at Stanford University, has been named associate director of athletics at Oberlin College. "I am pleased to have Michael Reilly as a member of the Oberlin staff," says Vin Lananna, the Delta Lodge Director of Athletics and professor of physical education at Oberlin. "President Dye, Dean Koppes, and I feel that having an internal operations officer in the athletics department is vital, and Mr. Reilly's experiences at Stanford as a student and as an administrator make him a natural for this position." Reilly also was assistant coach of the Stanford cross country and mens track and field teams and assistant director of the schools track and field and cross country Camp of Champions. "He was an accomplished director of operations for mens and womens programs with an exemplary record of building and continuously delivering world class NCAA Division I track and field and cross country programs," says Lananna. "Our students and coaches will benefit from his expertise in all aspects of conducting a comprehensive program." Reilly was a 1992 NCAA Division I Cross Country Academic All-American at Stanford. He earned a B.S. degree from Stanford in 1993, when he became an administrative assistant for the mens and womens track and field and cross country programs. He was named assistant coach in 1997 and director of track and field and cross country operations in 2001. Stanford has one of the top track and field and cross county programs in the nation. Since 1992, the mens cross country team has won six Pacific-10 Conference titles, seven NCAA West Region titles, and three NCAA championships. The womens cross country team has won nine Pacific-10 Conference titles, seven NCAA West Region titles, and one NCAA championship. |
