Eastwood students learned about static electricity by rubbing balloons on a piece of wool (or on their heads) and making the balloons stick to the walls. This student had fun demonstrating that static electricity makes her hair stand on end. |

Earlier in the school year, college students worked with Sarah Lee's first and second grade students in Eastwood's garden. The children learned to plant gourd seeds, care for the garden, and harvest the results. When the gourds ripened, then began to rot inside the classrooms, Eastwood students learned how to compost. |

Lee's pride and joy is a giant bushel gourd that sits in the classroom window, surrounded by smaller gourds and admired by the students. |
