Who Wrote the Luce Professorship Proposal; Whom the Foundation Consulted

David Love, associate vice president for research and development, chaired the faculty-and-staff committee that wrote the Luce-program proposal. Members of the committee were

  • William Hood, professor of art;
  • Richard Povall, associate professor of computer music and new media;
  • Norman Care, professor of philosophy;
  • Pamela Snyder, director of foundation and corporate support;
  • Lynn Lukkas, assistant professor of art;
  • Clayton Koppes, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and
  • Karen Wolff, dean of the Conservatory of Music.

When Luce Foundation representatives visited the campus, they held discussions with students who are active in interdisciplinary arts creation and performance. The representatives also met with faculty and staff from the conservatory, the Allen Memorial Art Museum, the departments of Art, English, and Philosophy, and the Theater and Dance Program.
