Strawbale Toolshed Construction
Photographs by Gloria Park

Eastwood School children made plaster of two parts clay, one part sand, one part water. Although the material is quite durable, next year, says Masi, an outer covering of lime plaster may be added to more thoroughly weatherproof the building.

The schoolchildren smeared plaster on strawbale walls--and themselves.

Junior environmental-studies major Caroline Cohen, from Gloucester, Massachusetts, was one of the Oberlin College students working on the project.
