I Musici de Montréal Set to Dazzle Audience with Musical Magic

Listeners are sure to be dazzled by I Musici de Montréal, a 15-member chamber orchestra that will cast its musical spell over the audience in Finney Chapel Sunday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m.

But listeners are not the only ones who are in for a treat. The concert is also sure to please spectators who can view an on-stage display of paintings by Natasha Turovsky, a founding member of I Musici de Montréal. Following the performance, the audience may visit the Conservatory to enjoy the largest exhibition of Turovsky’s work ever presented in the United States, including her famous "Pictures at an Exhibition" art series.

Formed by cellist and conductor Yuli Turovsky in 1983, I Musici de Montréal performs a vast repertoire extending from the baroque to the contemporary. Public enthusiasm and critical acclaim for the group’s performances underscore their precision, cohesion, and virtuosity. Referred to as “a decided virtuoso group” by Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post, I Musici de Montréal’s brilliant and distinctive sound confirms its importance on the world’s musical stage.

Part of Oberlin’s Artist Recital Series, the Nov. 6 concert will feature Borodin’s Nocturne for Strings, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (for strings), Tchaikovsky’s Andante Cantabile, and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, Op. 45.

Reserved seat tickets are $7 for students, $16 for those with an Oberlin College I.D., seniors, and area educators, and $20 for the public. Call the Central Ticket Service box office at 440-775-8169 to order.

Corporate underwriting for this concert is provided by Legend Financial Group, Ltd., and media sponsorship for the Artist Recital Series is provided by WCLV 104.9-FM, Cleveland’s classical music radio station; WVIZ; 90.3-WCPN ideastream; and Northern Ohio Live magazine.
