Assistant to the Campaign Director, Office of Development and Alumni Affairs Moving to Oberlin from Santa Cruz, California, has been quite an adjustment. I miss spending lunch hours at the beach! However, I enjoy the way Oberlin combines small town congeniality with high caliber intellectual and cultural activities. Before relocating to Oberlin, I worked as President of the Board of the Conflict Resolution Center in Santa Cruz. The Conflict Resolution Center appealed to me due to my childhood in Beirut, Lebanon, and my years with the United Nations in New York City. I look forward to resuming volunteer activities in the greater Cleveland area on a non-profit board and for cultural/artistic events. Working for the College allows me to broaden my knowledge by taking a class each semester. Right now, I am discovering the complexities and joys of Western Classical music. Since my partner, Deborah Rifkin, joined the Conservatory faculty this fall, this initiation is timely indeed. Ohio offers greater opportunity to pursue my horse habit. In fact, I recently purchased a thoroughbred eventer, just in time for the show season! I am also an avid scuba diver, and look forward to exploring the North Carolina coast. My friends have teased me about crossing oceans and continents to move from the Middle East to the Midwest, but I am here to stay for awhile. We have purchased a house in town and all gardening and house maintenance advice is welcome! |
