Immigrant Workers Project
The Immigrant Worker Project (IWP) grew out of our dialogue between the growing Latino/a population of Ohio and various community leaders and activities in 1999. The Immigrant Worker Project is dedicated to the struggle for justice and human dignity for rural immigrant workers from Latin America. We are an organization that is working toward a future where Economic Democracy and Communities of Solidarity are achieved for rural immigrants in Ohio. By Economic Democracy we mean a participatory system in which workers have a meaningful voice in all structures of their economic existence. By Communities of Solidarity we mean communities where cultural diversity is embraced by institutions of faith, education, social services and health care. To obtain these goals the Immigrant Worker Project (IWP) empowers community leaders, creates structures for global education, and advocates for workplace justice.

East Coast Chicano Student Forum Conference
The East Coast Chicano Student’s Forum is an alliance of Chicano and Latino organizations from East Coast colleges and universities. The ECCSF was established in 1972 through the efforts of a few dedicated Chicanos and Chicanas from Ivy League schools concerned with the conditions of Chicanos in higher education on the east coast. Among the issues which needed prompt addressing were curriculum matters, recruitment efforts and low retention rates that impeded the progress of a fast growing Chicano student population. When the organization first started it was composed of only Yale, UPenn, and Columbia. Now the ECCSF is a coalition of 22 schools with over 300 members and the numbers are growing.
Every year four ECCSF conferences are held to tackle issues pertinent to the Chicano community specifically and to the Latino community as a whole. One of the priorities every year focuses on recruitment strategies to increase the amount of Chicanos and Latinos applying to and matriculating in East Coast schools.
National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States working to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areas – assets/investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health.
