Finding Articles in Science Journals
Essential Databases & Indexes
These databases are the most comprehensive sources available for indexing of current scientific literature. They provide access to tens of thousands of scholarly journals. They are not the only relevant databases for researching scientific literature, but represent the best of many options for basic research at the college level.Biological Abstracts -- older print volumes in Science Library, 1980- present is available online as Biological Abstracts / BIOSIS.
Chemical Abstracts via SciFinder Scholar (older print volumes in Science Library). Limited to two simultaneous users at computers in the science library or chemistry computer classrooms. You must have the client software loaded on your computer to access this resource (contact the science librarian to get it.)
GeoBase: non-western hemisphere emphasis for all of the earth sciences.
GeoRef: U.S. and western hemisphere emphasis. Excellent retrospective and current resource.
INSPEC: physics, electronics, computing, engineering; thoroughly comprehensive, detailed indexing and subject thesaurus.
