Video Viewing



Library videos are for individual and classroom use in accordance with the interim college policy on showing videos and films. Some videos in library collections are purchased with public performance rights available.  Please contact Alan Boyd or Allison Gallaher if you have questions about showing films from the library collections to groups on campus.


Video Collection


The Library has a collection of over 10,000 VHS cassettes and digital video disks.  All videos are housed at the circulation desks in the owning libraries.  Additionally, Oberlin College affiliates have access to the Oberlin Public Library's film collection upon proper registration as a library user.

In the Main Library students may view videos and DVDs in Mudd 205, where there are five viewing stations in Mudd 205, four of which have LCD panels and DVD players that handle multi-regional discs.  There is also a multi-region Blu-ray player and a PAL tape player.

The Main Library also 2 circulates a multi-region DVD players for viewing non-region 1 (mostly foreign) DVDs.

In the Art Library, students may check-out headphones from the Circulation Desk and view DVDs on public workstations.  There is also a viewing room for VHS tapes and DVDs; it seats 2 people is available for use during library hours.

In the Conservatory Library there are 6 listening/viewing rooms accommodating up to 4 people each and equipped to play DVDs, video cassettes, and laser discs.

In the Science Library, students may check-out headphones from the Circulation Desk and view DVDs on the computers in the Mac Lab.
