Welcome From the Director of Libraries

Dear Student Assistant,

Welcome to the Oberlin College Library!

The work that you do as a library student assistant is essential to the library's mission of supporting the academic life of the College. That simple fact can't be overemphasized, and is based on a decades-long tradition of employing students to perform critical tasks within all areas of the library's operations. Regardless of the department in which you are employed, or the nature of your assigned responsibilities, your efforts directly impact the quality of library services, collections, and facilities--and how library users perceive us. The Oberlin College Library is proud of its long history of excellence, and we are grateful to the thousands of college students who have helped establish it. We trust you will embrace the challenge of becoming part of that tradition.

Students' ideas for improving the library are always welcome. If you see something that could be done in a better way, please tell your supervisor -- or speak with me or Alan Boyd, Associate Director of Libraries.

-- Ray English, Director of Libraries
