Carrel Regulations
NO FOOD IS PERMITTED IN CARRELS OR IN ANY PUBLIC AREA OF THE LIBRARY.
FOOD LEFT IN CARRELS WILL BE REMOVED AND LEFT OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY'S ENTRANCE.
1. Library materials left in the carrel must be checked out to you and marked with completed green carrel charge slips. Library books (including those from other campus libraries) which are not checked out and marked with slips will be removed regularly without notice.
2. Reference books and periodicals can not be left overnight in your carrel. Please return them to the circulation desk for re-shelving when you are finished with them.
3. No smoking, food, or drink (except non-alcoholic beverages with a secured lid). Carrel privileges will be revoked if the Food and Drink Policy is violated.
4. Do not leave trash in your carrel. Clean any beverage spills immediately. Cleaning supplies are available at the circ desk if needed.
5. Use bookends to properly support library books on your carrel. Extra bookends are at the circ desk.
6. The library is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings.
7. Do not remove books from other carrels. The person who checked out the book is responsible for it. Do not pass along books to others if they are still checked out to you.
8. Books checked out to carrels will be “de-sensitized” only on your request. This will prevent someone from leaving the library with books checked out to you. Circulation assistants will most likely consult OBIS to make sure the book is checked out to you before de-sensitizing.
9. You are responsible for clearing your carrel at the end of the semester. Bring all library materials to the circulation desk. If you need to keep books into the new semester, they must be renewed.
10. If a group is sharing a carrel with you, you are responsible for submitting names of all members of your group to the circulation supervisor. You are ultimately responsible for maintaining the carrel. A carrel user will be permitted to take out of the library only those books that are checked out to her/him.
