Bio 120 Guide
Journal Articles - Science Databases
This is the most comprehensive database we can access for the biological sciences, with subject index browsing and good options for focusing search results.
Science Citation Index (ISI Web of Knowledge)
Not as comprehensive as Biological Abstracts, but more up to date and the journals indexed are more often readily available. No subject indexing, but cited reference searching is an unique option that helps diversify search results.
Both of the above link to full-text articles online when available, and to library holdings information in OBIS and the OhioLINK Central Catalog.
Multi-disciplinary Databases
These databases are good as a *starting* point. They are not comprehensive for any subject. They do provide fast access to journal articles online, and can help you refine your topic before using a more comprehensive database.
OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center current 5-10 years only; scholarly articles.
JSTOR older archive of selected titles which excludes the current 5 years; scholarly articles.
Books
OBIS Library Catalog. OBIS also tells you what journals we own in print and can access online.
OhioLINK Central Catalog Search the catalogs of all academic libraries in Ohio simultaneously; request books for loan with your OCID.
WorldCat Expand your search to libraries worldwide.
