The Librarian’s Index to the Internet
Maintained by Karen G. Schneider; a program of The Library of California, with funding from various government and grant agencies. “Information you can trust.” A searchable and browsable, annotated, subject directory of 12,000+ Internet resources selected and evaluated by librarians for their usefulness. Each listing is reviewed at least twice before being added to LII, and is indexed using Library of Congress Subject Headings.

The Scout Report Archives
Maintained by the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison, under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation. "Surf smarter, not longer." A searchable and browsable database of over 17,000 critical annotations of carefully selected, high-quality Internet resources. Each annotation seeks to provide an overall analysis of each site including general content attribution (authors, etc.), currency, availability, accessibility, and presentation. Professional librarians, educators, and subject content specialists select, research, and annotate each resource. The majority of items reviewed are freely accessible.

The Invisible Web Directory
Maintained by Chris Sherman and Gary Price as a companion to their book The Invisible Web: Finding Hidden Internet Resources Search Engines Can't See. Includes a directory of some of the best resources the Invisible Web has to offer. The directory includes resources that are informative, of high quality, and contain worthy information from reliable information providers that are not visible to general-purpose search engines. Precedence is given to resources that are freely available on the Web, although a few select resources that are either free to search but have resulting fee-based content, charge a small fee to search and a fee to access full-records, or require registration are included.

Image Sites
Maintained by Tasi (Technical Advisory Service for Images), a UK-based organization that provides advice and guidance to the higher education community on using digital images to support teaching, learning, and research. Searchable database of a wide range of digital image collections and projects.
