Obituary

Residential services assistant Eileen Mead

Operations assistant in residential services Eileen Mead died 30 March in Orange Township, Ohio. She was 58 years old.

She came to work for the college in October 1978 as an animal caretaker in the psychology department and transferred to residential services in 1987. She worked through January 1995, according to acting assistant director of residential services Mary Atkinson, moving furniture and furnishings in the residence halls and inspecting the co-ops. "She provided many of the small things that people take for granted," says director and associate dean of residential services Harry Dawe. "She was supportive and capable without being flamboyant. Students who worked with her came to respect her concern and care for the fabric of the places where students live."

Born Eileen Masterson 15 October 1936, Mead was a member of the Brethren Church in Ashland. Survivors include a daughter, five sons, 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a brother. Services were 3 April at the Norton Funeral Home in Wellington; burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
