End of Semester Renewals & Summer Privileges

All semester-loan library material (primarily non-reserve books and government documents) is due on Tuesday, May 18, 2011. Please remember that other library materials, such as reserve, periodicals, video materials, interlibrary loans, OhioLINK items, and recalled materials may have different due dates.

If you are completing work due during the exam period, you may keep semester loan items for a few extra days.

All Oberlin College Library materials must be returned by the end of the exam period, unless you have made other arrangements at the lending library.

• If you are finishing an incomplete, you may consult with a circulation supervisor concerning the possibility of taking library materials off-campus with you. This can only be approved by a staff member in the location (library branch or reserve) where the book is shelved and will require that you guarantee the safe and prompt return of the materials upon completion of your assignments or when recalled.
• If you are a continuing student remaining in Oberlin over the summer, you may extend your privileges, beginning Tuesday, May 10, 2011, through the summer by completing a summer address form. 

Beginning on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, borrowers may check out and renew library materials to use until their privileges expire.  Keeping any library materials overdue will result in our holding your enrollment next semester. Graduating students will be billed for the replacement and processing costs of unreturned materials.  

The cost of replacing materials lost or damaged while in your care will be billed to you at the replacement cost plus a $25 processing fee per item.  Recall fines will be enforced without regard to the distance you are from Oberlin. If you choose to take materials off campus, you do so accepting these responsibilities. Please contact a circulation supervisor if you have any questions about this policy.

Graduating students who remain in the area may become alumni borrowers. Ask for a copy of the courtesy borrowing privileges at the circulation desk for more information.
