Audio Visual Services
The Audio Visual Services Department, located on the fourth floor of the Main Library, supports activities of the college community which require the use of audio or visual media.
AV Equipment and Smart Classrooms
A wide variety of audiovisual equipment is available for use by faculty, students, or campus organizations. Most equipment for classroom use is available on a free loan basis. The department also provides equipment for college-related, non-academic uses on a rental basis. The AV staff provides instruction in the use of audiovisual equipment and offers training in the use of the "smart" classrooms on campus.
Audio Visual Services offers basic video production services in support of classroom instruction. For more information call 775-8757.
Several media-supported classrooms in Mudd Center may be scheduled through Audio Visual Services. The Moffett Auditorium (Mudd 050) and Mudd 456 are equipped with rear-screen data and video projection. A laptop connection is available for data display and VCR and DVD players are permanently housed in the rooms. Academic classes have priority for using the rooms. Student organizations may reserve these rooms once the academic schedule is determined. Mudd 443, a smart classroom used primarily for library instruction, may be used for other academic classes as scheduling permits.
Video Viewing Facilities
Students may view videos and DVDs in the AV department where there are 8 viewing stations available on a first-come first-served basis.
There are five viewing stations in Mudd 205, four which have LCD panels and DVD players that handle multi-regional discs.
Video Collection
The Library has a collection of over 10,000 VHS cassettes and digital video disks. Videos and DVDs in this collection are available for loan to faculty, staff and students. All videos are housed at the Circulation Desk.
