Find Articles & Journals

Articles

Search databases to find references to articles in scholarly journals, popular magazines, newspapers, etc. Some databases provide the full-text of articles, some provide only citations or abstracts; others provide images and digital media.

Databases are listed by subject and A to Z by name.

Not sure where to start? Consult a subject or research guide or try a multidisciplinary database such as Academic Search Complete or Ask a Librarian for suggestions!

Journals

If you know what article and/or journal you need, search OBIS by periodical title to find out if Oberlin has print holdings or electronic access.

Note: If Oberlin does not have the journal you need, you may request photocopies of specific articles via Interlibrary Loan. It is not possible to request periodicals via OhioLINK.

Electronic Journals

JSTOR: The Scholarly Journal Archive
Provides searchable full-text of scholarly journals in the liberal arts, beginning with the first volume of each journal; in most cases, current issues are not included.

Electronic Journal Center (EJC)
Includes over 7 million articles from more than 6,900 journals by 90+ publishers. Emphasis is on current issues.

Electronic Journal Finder
Lists journals whose full text can be found online in other databases.

Directory of Open Access Journals
Provides access to free, full text, quality-controlled scientific and scholarly journals.

LexisNexis Academic
Provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal, and medical sources, most of them available in full text.

Factiva
