World War II Propaganda Collection

Mentor(s): Ed Vermue

Department: Special Collections

Aspects of librarianship related to the project: Archival arrangement and description, Preservation, Indexing, Web page design

Number of openings: 2

Estimated length of project: 4 weeks

Hours/day: 3

Dates available: Prefer July/early August, afternoons

Preferred skills/knowledge: Interest in history

Additional comments: I also have students to train in the Preservation lab, so I need to devote mornings there. I am estimating the time needed for this…I may be off.

Description: Special Collections has 5 linear feet of booklets and leaflets from the WWII era. These need to be physically processed (flattened, repaired?, foldered, labeled), arranged, and described. An inventory needs then to be rendered in HTML for addition to our web page. In addition to the leaflets, Special Collections also has dozens of WWII era posters which need repair and encapsulation. An index also needs to be created for these. In both cases, shelf list cards will also be created.
