Program Schedule Overview

Spring 2001 and 2002

Interns will be involved in a range of activities designed to:

  • Familiarize them with the liberal arts academic environment
  • Introduce them to major issues and problems facing libraries
  • Expose them to the work environments of other types of libraries

Summer 2001 and 2002

Interns will work closely with mentors in creating and designing projects to enhance and equate users with some of the following areas:

  • Collection Development
  • Reference
  • Systems
  • Cataloging
  • Management and Budget
  • Fundraising

Fall 2001 and 2002

Interns will concentrate on the following activities:

  • Continue to work with mentors on individual projects
  • Give talks or poster sessions on summer projects
  • Attend one national or regional library conference
  • Participate in activities and career workshops

Winter 2002 and 2003

Interns will work off-campus for academic credit at a library under the direction of an Oberlin alumni librarian mentor.
