Christopher Mees, a native of Cody, Wyo., is a 2009 graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he majored in jazz bass performance studying under Peter Dominguez. Mees, an active performer, has played in many New York City clubs and venues, including Smalls, Birdland, Minton’s Playhouse, and the Rubin Museum of Art, and in Cleveland at the Bopstop and at Nighttown. Mees has performed with many great artists including Billy Hart, Jimmy Cobb, and Geri Allen.
While at Oberlin, Mees participated in several masterclasses and also studied with Oberlin professors Dan Wall, Billy Hart, Jamey Haddad, and Paul Samuels. Mees has recorded with two Oberlin graduates, Theo Crocker ’07 and Arnold Lee ’09.
Mees lives in New York City. He is pursuing a career as a performer, while composing and studying different genres of music, and constantly striving to find new directions and connections in music.
