Bobby Jackson is the former music director of WCPN 90.3-FM and WVIZ-TV. His work as host of the radio show "Jazz Tracks" has won numerous awards over the years, including the Ohio Educational Telecommunications Program of the Year as well as best Arts and Cultural Affairs radio programming. He has three times received the GAVIN trade national jazz radio Programmer of the Year. He has guest hosted the nationally radio syndicated Detroit Labor Day Jazz festival.
This year he received a nomination from the Jazz Journalist Association for the Willis Conover/Marian McPartland award for broadcasting, an award which he also has received nominations the previous two years.
He has consulted jazz radio programming for many stations across the United States and is currently embarking on a new professional project called, The Jazz Mind, which will be content heavy with interviews of not only musicians and jazz music industry people from the past, but also for authors of books and the new voices coming up to define the future of jazz.
Jackson has served the Oberlin Conservatory of Music for many years as a guest lecturer of music classes, author of liner notes for the Oberlin’s jazz faculty recordings, and articles on some of the Oberlin jazz faculty.
