Hola! Welcome !
Dear
New International Student,
Welcome to Oberlin College! We are very excited that you have
chosen Oberlin and look forward to meeting you here. As officers
of the International Student Organization (ISO) we would like
to invite you to join our diverse international community.
Oberlin is a culturally rich college and you will find yourself
surrounded by peers who represent many different countries
and backgrounds. Here one makes friends that last a lifetime.
The main function of ISO is to bring international students
together. We do that in many ways: by organizing trips, monthly
breakfasts, banquets, study breaks, and by collaborating with
other groups on campus that organize social and cultural activities
throughout the year. During orientation, international upperclassmen
and ISO officers will be available to provide academic, employment,
and other general advice and guidance.
Most international students face some form of culture shock
on their arrival in the United States. We have been through
the same experience and are here to guide you in finding your
place in the community. The ISO plays an important role in
this process. We understand that you have made a big decision
in coming here. Be assured that we will be with you in every
step of the way, helping you with whatever you might need.
By using the ISO as your stepping-stone, you will find it
easier to integrate yourself into the Oberlin community.
You are about to embark on an interesting journey and we wish
you all the best. Have a great summer and we will see you
soon!
With warm Regards,
The ISO Committee
