Host
Program
The
Host Program was implemented in 2007. The purpose of the program
is to enrich the experiences of international students at
Oberlin College and to provide a deeper understanding of international
peoples and cultures in the broader community.
The program is voluntary for
students and hosts. Also
please note that it is not a home-stay program – the
students reside in dorms on campus. Although
our office may sponsor and/or recommend certain
events during the academic year, hosts and students are
encouraged to plan activities and interactions based on
common interests and availability. It
is understood that both hosts and students are busy and
have many demands on their time. Ways in which participants
might interact include having a meal together; staying
in touch via phone or email; sharing special occasions;
taking a trip to a mall or a specialty grocery store;
and attending sporting or cultural events together. It
is our hope that the program provides informal and relaxed
experiences for hosts and students.
If
you are interested in participating, please fill in
the relevant application form online or download it
and mail it to our office in Peters Hall 205.
