IMPORTANT
ANNOUNCEMENTS
As
you plan to leave campus at the end of this semester, keep
in mind the following:
1.
The last board meal on campus is dinner on Saturday, December
20. The closing day and time for all college housing, excluding
village housing, is 9 a.m.
on Sunday, December 21. The residence halls will re-open
on Friday, January 2, 2009, at noon.
If
you have questions about housing and dining, please contact
the Residential Education office directly.
2.
If you're planning to travel outside the United States for
the holidays and/or winter term, you must make sure to take
with you (1) your valid passport with (2) a valid F-1 visa
stamp and (3) the I-94 card, as well as (4) your SEVIS I-20
Form, so that you can be sure that you'll be able to re-enter
the States later on.
The
third page of your I-20 must be signed by a Designated School
Official once a year - please check to make sure your
I-20 has been properly signed and if you think you need a
new signature, come see us in Peters 205.
3.
If the F-1 visa stamp in your passport is about to expire
(i.e., the expiration date is before you're planning to come
back to the US), you must apply for a new F-1 visa while you're
outside the States. You will NOT be allowed to re-enter the
country if your visa stamp has expired. If you would like
to request a letter from our office verifying that you're
an Oberlin student and you've maintained your F-1 status,
email us immediately.
4.
Similar rules apply to your passport, i.e. if your passport
is about to expire within the next 6 months, you must renew
your passport while you're outside the States. You may not
be allowed to re-enter the US if your passport is not valid
for at least 6 more months from the date of re-entry.
Don't
hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions or
concerns.
Have
a wonderful holiday season and a productive Winter Term!
