The Conservatory Challenge

Dean of the Conservatory David Stull is challenging conservatory alumni to make a gift to the Oberlin Alumni Fund in support of conservatory students, and had pledged to match each gift with $5. When Harvey Met Louise: An Oberlin Love Story, 50 Years Later

The old saying “like attracts like” has been proven true time and time again, but never more so than in the case of Oberlin alumni who meet, fall in love, and get married. Harvey Culbert and Louise Luckenbill ’58 are a prime example of this phenomenon, but with one critical difference – they never met as undergraduates. Instead, Harvey and Louise met – and began their courtship – at their 50 th reunion celebration in May 2007.» More

As cliché as it might sound, most Obies gravitate toward a volunteer opportunity like ducks take to water. That’s no surprise – learning and labor is woven into the very fabric of Oberlin’s history. But the same Obie who is willing to volunteer as a career counselor or admissions representative for Oberlin is often uncomfortable when asked to support their alma mater through a gift to the Oberlin Alumni Fund.
