As 2008 draws to a close and we celebrate the holidays with family and friends, I am reminded that there are many things for which we can be thankful this holiday season, despite the difficult economic times. I am especially grateful to be a part of such a dynamic institution and campus community. Oberlin is a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. No other college offers our distinctive blend of academic rigor and excellence combined with a world-class conservatory of music and an internationally renowned, teaching art museum. Thanks to your support, an Oberlin education will remain a truly special experience for many holiday seasons to come.
Wherever you may be spending the holidays, please take a moment to reflect upon your time at Oberlin. Think of the first snow you saw falling on our lovely campus, and the plethora of holiday concerts, recitals and performances that relieved the stress of studying for exams. Remember the town and Tappan Square sparkling with lights. If you click on any of the photos above and below, you can view larger resolution images of Oberlin around the holidays. You can also get a sense of how vibrant Oberlin is from our new web site, www.oberlin.edu. My family and I already cherish many Oberlin images and memories. I hope your memories of this beautiful place, and the sights, sounds and people you came to know at this remarkable college are just as vivid.
Again, thank you so much for your continued support of Oberlin College. Please enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season. I wish you and yours all the best in 2009, and I hope your plans for the year include a visit to your alma mater. If you do visit, please check our new events calendar at new.oberlin.edu/events-activities before you come because there are so many exciting things happening here!
With warm regards from Oberlin,

Marvin Krislov
