As Oberlin College begins to weigh its options for a new capital campaign, it is turning to Bill Barlow, the newly named vice president of development and alumni affairs, for guidance. Oberlin – 1953. John Picken and Mary Sawyer Picken, both ’56 graduates meet in the kitchen of Martin’s Restaurant and Hotel. First-generation college students who have come to Oberlin on a Ford Foundation Scholarship, they are working at the hotel to pay their room and board fees. »More

In keeping with its 175-year history of leading the way on access to an excellent liberal arts education, Oberlin College is eliminating loan requirements for incoming first-year students eligible for federally funded Pell Grants. The Oberlin Access Initiative will also eliminate loans for all current, Pell-eligible students returning to Oberlin in the fall. »More
