Artist's Statement
Through
photography, sound, and other media, my work addresses the conflicts
that emerge when a new medium emerges into society and the way in
which changes occur in response to this technological change. In this
body of work, I use Japan as a model for a world condition.
The series "potogahi" addresses technology and the terror
it implies in our evolving society. The "Hospital Bed" series
comprises third-generation images of a "death room" in a
hospital. These series are part of a larger work that reimagines the
emergence of photography in Japan.
