Statement
I have
been involved in photography for six years. It all started with a
class at the Boys and Girls Club in my hometown of Martinsburg, WV.
Through this program I was given access to all kinds of photography
equipment as well as to processing facilities.
In addition to the many inspiring (ten day tour of the Pacific Northwest)
and the few not-quite-so inspiring field trips (the farm museum) led
up weekly by my insanely dedicated instructor Pat Murphy, the program
also gave me the opportunity to work with and learn from various professional
and amateur photographers.
With the help of a friend of the program and successful freelance
photographer Connie Toops, I was able to travel to the 1996 NANPA
(North American Nature Photography Association) forum in Corpus Christie,
TX to work with and meet some of the world's most famous photographers.
I do photography because it is powerful. I see something one way and
when I take a picture of it, everyone who looks at the photo will
be forced to look at it as I saw it.
