This film is concerned with the physical and metaphorical relationships emerging from the essence of water. It explores how our own circulatory systems are intimately connected with the waters of the world. Just as streams and rivers act as a fluid system of transportation across the globe so does the human circulatory system. Ultimately, whatever we do to the waters of the planet we do to our own body. The earth and the human body are inextricably linked, they are in effect one and the same being made up of the basic life elements.
About the Artist

Born in Switzerland in 1977, Alina came to the United States at age 6. After living in various places in the United States with her family over the course of the next 12 years, she finally settled in at Oberlin, drawn to it initially for its experimental dance program. Always an avid admirer of film, Alina was delighted to have been accepted into Rian Brown's digital video class in the spring of 2001. Above is an excerpt from her work in which Alina attempted to fuse her sensual performance aesthetics with a conscious mix of biology and environmental concerns.
