Class meeting times: MWF 9:00 -9:50 a.m., Severance 108
Reading: The primary text for the course is
Segar, D. A., 1998, Introduction to Ocean Sciences, (3rd ed.), Wadsworth Publishing Co.
The notation "CC" below refers to Segar's Critical Concepts (found at the back of the textbook). We indicate those CC's that relate to our coverage of different topics. We have also placed readings on reserve at the Science Library and on eres. We denote readings on reserve with o.r. below. Readings on Eres can be accessed using the password marine. Reading assignments indicated by an asterisk (*) are recommended but optional; all other assignments are required.
Grading: Your grade will be based upon scores in three exams, two scheduled during normal class meeting times and a third scheduled during the final exam period. We expect you to take the exams at the scheduled times, unless you have a valid conflict, in which case you must arrange a substitute time with us prior to the scheduled exam time.
