Adolescent Transition to Work:
The College Alternative

Today’s high schools are aimed at preparing kids for college.  Even the courses offered are called ‘College Prep’.  This mindset limits students to thinking that college is the only post-graduation option.  In fact, there are other choices that are important to take into consideration.  The problem is that many youth are not aware of all their options.

This website is made for you, the high school student, who is looking to explore the college alternatives.  In this site you will find an overview of programs in America for those who are not interested in going to college upon graduation.  We have also looked into what kids in other cultures are doing, and what other countries offer for them.  Two cultures that are explored are the Amish and the German.

Everybody has a unique plan and different things work well for different people.  We strongly recommend that each student keep in mind that there is no ‘right’ way to go from high school into the working world.
