CHRIS HOWELL
Department of Politics
- Oberlin College
"The philosophers
have only interpreted the world in
various ways. The point, however, is to change it."
Karl Marx
"No
man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of
the continent, a part of the main... Any man's death diminishes
me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never
send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
John Donne

ABOUT THIS SITE:
This site is under construction. Some bits work, while others do not,
and I plan on expanding the sections on labor issues and other links
and non-academic interests. The drop
down menu located at the bottom of each page is the main
navigation tool for the site. Broadly speaking, the pages linked to
Oberlin Courses
describe the courses I teach, have syllabi and some appropriate links,
and give me a place to provide new information about assignments. The
Research &
Scholarship pages list my publications, some career details,
work-in-progress, and have the full-text of some (mostly unpublished)
papers. Since I have a particular interest in Labor
Issues, those pages will highlight job openings in the labor
movement, labor-related events on campus and in the surrounding area
(for example, John Sweeney's commencement address in 1999), and relevant
links. The Other
Links & Interests pages will include family links and
pages on some of my passions, including Hong Kong film, Chelsea Football
Club, the Oakland Raiders (don't ask!), and squash.
