Don Herrick became Oberlin's first city manager in December 1925. The town of Oberlin decided to do away with a mayoral government in favor of the city manager form of government, hoping to effect a change towards more bipartisan leadership. Herrick, of Albion, Michigan, served until his resignation in February 1928.
