Historic Preservation in Oberlin

"History and preservation go hand in hand to retain a spirit of community, recognize the value of our past, and plan for our future. Oberlin is one of Northern Ohio's unique small towns. Much of its history is captured in its buildings."

There are currently 39 buildings in Oberlin that are designated as "Oberlin Historic Landmarks". Twenty of them are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places -- in the list below, this designation is indicated by an asterik. One of these -- Langston House (1856) -- is also a National Historic Landmark, a distinction given to those National Register properties that "possess exceptional value in commemorating or illustrating the history of the United States".
