For Monday, propose one discussion question for each essay assigned. For this discussion question, pick a topic or issue that will engage your discussion group in a central theory in the essay or a central argument or point the essay makes. Your question should enable people to grapple with what the writer is aiming at, and how the writer does so, with what particular kinds of evidence, arguments, and rhetoric. Help others see how to address the goals, methods, and central concerns of some important aspect of the essay.
Include in your position paper some ideas of your own to start the discussion going, and have a list of quotations you could use to guide the discussion.
Suggest in your position paper some particular ways to have an engaged discussion of some aspect of the essay you think would be valuable to consider.
Take about two or three paragraphs for each question, so the position paper can be 1 1/2 to 2 pages.
