Hirschel
Kasper (Ph.D., 1963, Minnesota) is primarily interested in labor
economics and economic policy. He teaches courses in labor economics,
labor-management relations, and poverty and affluence. His interest
in education led to his 1991 article titled "The Education
of Economists", published in the American Economic Association's
Journal of Economic Literature. For more than a decade he has
served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Education.
He is now finishing a study of the relation between labor market
conditions and welfare case loads. On occasion he serves as
labor arbitrator in the private and public sectors. He is professionally
known for his research on job searches by the unemployed and
collective bargaining in education.
