Sylvestre
Gaudin (Ph.D. Rice University 2000) is interested in public policy
relating to the use of natural resources, the protection of the
environment, and economic development. She has prior experience
teaching at Rice University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and the University
of Wyoming. She previously worked for the World Bank where she participated
in the preparation of the macroeconomic report: Brazil: an
Agenda for Stabilization. Her current research concentrates
on residential water demand ("Demand Specification for Municipal
Water Management: Evaluation of the Stone-Geary Form", Land
Economics, August 2001) and the optimal choice between ground and
surface water in urban areas. She is also involved in a project
to identify how public health expenditures can be better targeted
to address the needs of the poor in South Asia.
